Recording the journey..

Updated: Feb 13, 2020

Since Christmas I have been undertaking a variety of observational studies for a new large scale children's painting that I am working on. Part of this has been researching the hump back whale. Hump back whales are sometimes seen off the coast of Scotland and the Shetland Islands. The mother protects the baby as it cannot initially stay underwater for long. They are such majestic and graceful creatures.

Whales have always been seen as an omen of luck, unless they are sick or dying. In the Native American Indian tradition describes whales as the record keeper of the earth - recording her history. Whales can communicate with other whales across vast distances with their haunting song. Whale encourages us to record our journey and examine our paths to achievement, whilst speaking our truth with sincerity and clarity.

'Spirit of Whale' was created with oil paint on a stretched canvas (20 x 20 cms or 7.9 x 7.9") and is available both as an 18x18cm Limited Edition Giclée Print and greetings card.
