Looe Estuary meandering inland..

Looe is a beautiful coastal town in the South West of Cornwall. There are lots of boutiques, cafes and restaurants and is an amazing place to hang out. There is a marina in front of the bridge with hundreds of boats moored on mud flats, waiting for the tide to come in. This painting captures the other side of the bridge, where the estuary meanders inland and is much more peaceful. 

'Looe Estuary' by Sonia Finch

I originally started working on this painting two years prior, but I felt blocked and couldn't seem to finish it. I'd painted some large boats and lost the expansive scale of the estuary. By visiting Looe and taking photographs at different times of day and in different seasons, I fell in love with this magical place and this inspired me to make some alterations and finish it.
