A return to balance..

There’s a quiet moment that comes after every storm — not just in the sky, but in the heart. It’s a hush. A breath. A return to balance. That’s what this painting holds for me.'Cuckmere Haven After the Storm'  wasn’t just inspired by the land - it was inspired by a memory. Years ago, I walked this path with a dear friend who was carrying heavy grief. The wind howled around us and we let it. We let the landscape do what it’s always done: hold us, cleanse us, restore us.

Tranquil countryside scene with rolling green hills, winding river, and soft blue sky.
A female sheep stands among long grass and red poppies, watching over her lambs.
'Cuckmere Haven after the Storm' by Sonia Finch

The scene I painted isn’t from the wild moment, but what came after. When the sky softened. When the river resumed its journey. When the sheep — grazed like nothing had happened. That’s healing. That’s nature’s quiet strength.

So this is a little love note from me to you, dear reader. If you’ve been through your own storm lately, I hope this painting and this moment reminds you that stillness does return. That peace is never far and that sometimes, the sheep know best.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for walking with me. And if you ever find yourself down at Cuckmere Haven, let the river speak to you. It remembers everything.

With love,Sonia 💗
